Dogs at Welsh Hideaways

We want you and your dog(s) to have a great holiday. The following points are to help ensure all goes well:

  • Up to two well behaved dogs are very welcome at each cottage, so a total of four if you take both cottages.

  • ALWAYS keep your dogs on a lead when sheep are in the same area and keep to footpaths.  Lambs in Cwmystwyth usually arrive late March; it is especially important pregnant ewes are left unworried by dogs.  Farmers can legally shoot dogs that are worrying sheep under section 9 of the Animal Act 1971.

  • There should be at least one dog collar tag in each cottage on a key hook, that bears the name of the cottage.  PLEASE replace them when you leave!

  • Please keep dogs downstairs where possible and off the beds and other soft furnishings.

  • If you leave a dog behind in the cottage when you go out, please be confident it is not going to bark and upset people in nearby cottages.

  • Ty Mari and Penroc have separate fenced gravel gardens, but we cannot guarantee they are dog proof, especially for very small dogs. Penroc’s front door opens into the garden, whereas Ty Mari’s front door opens onto the track and the garden is through a separate gate off the track.

  • Please clear up any dog mess left around the cottages. If disposing using dog poo bags, please put them in the black bin bags used for general rubbish and not loose in the bin. Please do not use our neighbours’ bins.

  • There are ticks in Wales so keep an eye out for them, especially in spring and autumn.  There is a tick remover hook in a dresser draw in each cottage.

  • If you walk your dog along the road towards the centre of the village beware of the sheep dogs by Pentre Farm as they are very territorial. They are usually locked in the barn by supper time.

  • Some of the best walks for dogs are in Hafod Forest where there are miles of amazingly beautiful walks.  The Arch walks are good for a shorter run.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
