Dog Friendly Holiday Cottages Mid Wales
#Staycation: It is so good to see the Covid restrictions being eased. The link on this Home page will take you to the lastest Welsh Government ruling. Visitors to Wales from UK are encouraged to take a Lateral Flow Covid test at home before travelling and to bring kits with them to continue testing while on holiday but this is not mandatory unless you are coming from outside UK. Only those who have a negative test result and no symptoms of coronavirus should travel.

Enjoying your Mid-Wales Holiday
For some, this low priced self-catering holiday is enhanced by the two dog friendly cottages having inter-communicating, sound-proofed doors.
You can have a lively cottage with games, DVDs and the like and a quiet cottage where you can be still and enjoy the view. They are wonderful for two families wanting space for ten and yet having times apart from each other. Should you be looking for a place to party late then we would want you to book both cottages (with a discount if no more than 6 of you) so that no-one else is disturbed. If your holiday is immanent, you can check out the WEATHER FORECAST.
Cwmystwyth is at the geographical centre of Wales. The valley is so very beautiful, having small wooded copses and the River Ystwyth winding its way to the sea at Aberystwyth, less than half an hour from Welsh Hideaways. The mountain road from Rhayader to Cwmystwyth is described by the AA as one of the 10 most scenic in the world. Do sign in to iPlayer to watch the ‘Last Wilderness of Wales’ and this Scott Waby video is ready to view to see a little of Ceredigion:
Welsh Hideaways is within an area of astounding natural beauty, hidden in the heart of Wales. You will discover wild and wonderful landscapes, with open spaces and welcoming places. Uncover this place you will love, losing yourself in somewhere new. People and nature have lived in harmony here for centuries. Each day will take you closer to nature and each clear night you can feel closer to the stars. This is the wonderful Cambrian Mountains where you will find a wealth of wonderful wildlife too.

This was our 5th visit to Ty Mari. Lovely as ever – still keeps its originality. Has USB sockets around the home and excellent Wi-Fi. We had a short break this year, which was much needed after the pandemic. We feel energised to go back to city life and work. We will come back again, God-willing!
Penroc exactly as it said on the tin. Absolutely perfect. Thank you.
Great cottages in wonderful location in Mid-Wales. The cottages are well stocked with lots of games, jigsaws, DVDs, maps, books and general useful items when on holiday such as bags, map holders etc, etc. The communication beforehand was very good and during our stay. Would recommend as a great location to explore Mid-Wales.
Absolutely beautiful cottage. Had a lovely stay. So peaceful and quiet. Ideally situated for exploring wilderness as well as the coast.
Penroc is a lovely cottage, spotless with gorgeous views. Wi-fi very good, plenty of games and books. Idyllic location, very peaceful. Just the sound of the waterfall to send you to sleep. A truly relaxing break.
Ty Mari is a fabulous cottage in a beautiful area, great walks, superb for families with dogs. A very lovely holiday home.
Penroc, a fabulous holiday cottage in a beautiful Welsh valley.
Penroc in a beautiful remote location. Well stocked with games, books and DVDs for cosy nights in. Host very helpful ahead of visit and lots of useful information in the cottage. Steepness of stairs and lack of a (second) handrail a slight concern. Balcony great for a cold glass of wine as the sun goes down.
About Our Self Catering Holiday Cottages
Both of our self catering holiday cottages, Ty Mari and Penroc, come fully equipped with king size beds as well as comfy twin rooms so after a long day of walking with the dogs and outdoor activities, you will be sure of a good night’s sleep but before you turn in for the night, you can take full advantage of the wonderful views that mid-west Wales has to offer on the balcony or terrace, while enjoying a home cooked dinner or glass of wine on a summer’s evening. The international dark sky park is nearby so star-gazing, Milky Way class, is an unforgettable experience (see here) and the cottages are ‘dark sky friendly’. One site is at The Arch, just close to Welsh Hideaways.
For those cold and dark nights, there are a range of options to keep you entertained as you enjoy the heat of the stove, including Smart TV, DVDs, audio system, surprisingly fast internet and a good selection of games. Whether it’s a romantic countryside retreat or a large family/group walking holiday in Wales – the cottages cater for everyone (even your dog!). In 2018, Penroc won the prestigious Customers’ Choice Award, thanks to great reviews. Enjoy #Real Mid-Wales.
