Penroc

Our much-loved cottage has been in the family since 1969, providing a cosy base from which to explore the Cambrian Mountains and Mid Wales.

With oak beams and a huge inglenook fireplace it has a rustic Welsh charm that makes it popular with guests from around the world.

Ty Mari has a private gravel yard with a separate garden room that boasts wonderful views over the valley.

It shares an internal sound-proof door with Penroc so the two cottage can be booked together (otherwise locked).

Cottage Description

Ty Mari is an 18th century stone miners’ cottage, at the end of a short track on a rocky headland overlooking the Ystwyth valley. The front door opens onto the track and a private gravel garden and garden room are 10 metres away on the end of the headland.

Stepping inside, you will find an open plan kitchen and living area, with a picture window at one end and a large inglenook fireplace at the other. In-between is the interconnecting internal door with Penroc.

An open staircase takes you to the first floor, where all three bedrooms open onto a shared landing.

The front master bedroom and twin room look out over the valley and the back twin room has a rooflight that lets you look at the stars (and listen to the rain!)

The bathroom has a bath with a shower attachment. The toilet is in a separate room.

Excellent holiday cottage in a very picturesque part of Wales. We have stayed there 4 times now and always have a great holiday. The cottages have everything you might need and cater for dogs as well which is great for us. There are excellent dog walking routes at The Arch which is about a mile up the road. The mountain road through the Elan Valley is a must do drive and we always take this route to and from the cottages. Highly recommended and will be going back for another stay later in the year.

There really are not enough words to describe the beauty of the cottage or surrounding area. The peace and tranquillity was exactly what we needed and the only bad bit was that we had to come home. We will definitely be looking at returning next year. Justin was brilliant with his communication and, although we didn't need to, it was good to know that we had the contact details of local people if we had any problems.

A beautiful cottage in a stunning location. The cottage is very well appointed with everything we could have needed. It was warm and cosy and the fire in the lounge was a lovely addition. The cottage was immaculate when we arrived and the instructions and directions supplied were accurate and helpful. Communication with Justin the manager was excellent. The guides to the birdlife and local walks were great and the range of birds visiting the feeder outside the window was amazing.
